- When we opened the "Dramatic Spanish Oak" for the cabinets, it looked more like something from the south end of a cow than the brown I had in mind. It's the same brown/green color of our couch that Lay Z Boy calls "Brown Sugar". I'm really, really happy with how it looks on!
- The "bright blue" epoxy for the backsplash is more of an Eeyore Periwinkle. I am way too lazy to take it back to the store so I just used it. To my delight, it coordinates with the dusty grape oops colors I used in the dining room and they flow lovely!
- The light green on the walls is perfect. Hubby is even happy with it. It's called "Quaint Village Green" and is a dusty seafoam color. This is my happy color!
- The curtains I made for the dining room when we first moved into the house (the walls were white then) look lovely! It's so hard to tell, but they have the same greens with peach roses. One local said I decorate our home like a dollhouse. I don't think that's bad.
- Hubby was WONDERFUL and helped paint, put flashing behind the stove (we had enough leftover from something else), patched mouse holes and changed the faucet. {I love you Sweetm's!} Plus he put EOs on my aching back and listened to me whine and yes, even cry at one point...
- The children ALL helped. The boys sanded, helped take hardware off & on, and primed. (Don't notice the drips & globs, I'm dubbing it "Character.") Little Princess helped with several things, like painting a 2nd coat on the doorway to the utility room/entryway. (We need to do some touchups...) Big Princess was invaluable in painting help. (And keeping coffee percolating.) The older two... Well, they probably did more than I did. I couldn't have done it without teamwork!
There is more to do. I decided 1/2 the room (more like 3/4) was all I can do at a time. We need to pull out the frig, clean it inside & out, clean, prime, & paint behind it... I'm hoping we can get the paneling off to cover the old wall furnace hole. (The children are sad, they like to play like it's a portal to Narnia. LOL)
My favorite from last week:
After my Coffee! Opens at 11 am CST on Thursdays. I've tried to make the Rules simple:
