My oldest thinks I'm a Mario-Queen. She remembers me playing the Nintendo when she was little. Realize, this was about 20 years ago. The Nintendo was used. Someone had given to us. There were cords and buttons and a hand-sized disky-thing that plugged in for each game you played. We had 3 games, two of which were given to us; Zelda & Mario and the other I bought, Spiritual Warfare (a Christian game that ran similar to Zelda in a modern city scenario). I live my life in spurts. When I sew, I sew for a week or so. When I clean, I super-clean for a week or so. When I read, I read almost 24/7 until I finish the book. (I'm a very slow reader...) I also like to conquer my projects. I sew whole outfits in a setting, or end up with UFO's cluttering the house... I seldom don't finish a book, except devotionals. They are harder for me to conquer. When I play video games, I play them until I either complete all the levels or I can no longer advance. If I stop, I stop and seldom pick it back up. (Of course, I do eat, sleep & what-not... but even that is limited until I'm done with the project.) They are addictive and I succumb. Last year our oldest bought me a Mario Bros t shirt. (Or was it the year before?) I was kinda shocked at the gift. Why Mario? She remembered me playing it when she was little and had good memories of it, I suppose... It's funny the things children remember. So, if you catch me wearing a Mario t-shirt you'll know the story. My oldest thinks I'm a Mario-Queen. ...I can't play Mario now on these new-fangled devices people have. I get sea-sick. Doesn't that just figure? (*smirk*)

Mother's Day is probably one of the easiest holidays to shop for. Mommies are happy with flowers, cards, jewelry, breakfast in bed, or scribble drawings. Books are a good idea too!
For the children: Little Critter's Just Me and My Mom For Mom: Mother's Day Ideals (I absolutely love these magazines!) Mom's Night Out DVD (This is SO funny!) Even-Tempered Mother: Tips for Overcoming Rage and Depression (You can read my review of this wonderful book HERE.) |

I moved in the middle of high school. I had taken German, then moved to a school that only offered Spanish. I grew up with a little of both languages around me, but taking one consecutively after another was confusing. I still, to this day will get words mixed up between the two languages. I can definitely understand a lot more than I can competently speak. Throw in a definite Okie drawl and... well, I'm probably doomed in the multilingual department.

Have you ever wondered how Great-Great Grandma ever survived? She did so much with so little. Choosing a homestead life is difficult. You really do have to CHOSE it. Like 'Sarah Plain and Tall', you need to write your name in the earth and decide in your heart to plant yourself there. Even those of us who have roots here must eventually at some point meet that fork in the road. Most girls I graduated with had an attitude of, "I can't wait to ditch this town." Some of them did end up staying or coming back, but they still aren't part of the land. They have city attitudes and are never really content with life out here.

I won't continue to repeat everything I wrote in my JEANS post earlier this month about my thoughts on recycling and the destruction of our planet. If you missed it, please visit and leave me your thoughts on the subject. Instead, I'll give you some ideas on how to recycle without causing more pollution & cost to taxpayers.
