Black Friday
How to prepare for the world’s biggest, seasonal wave of consumerism.
(Part 1 of a 4-Part Series)
By Rosemary Hayda
Just as fast as the leaves are falling from the trees, October is over, and November is upon us. With this new month comes one of the biggest financial challenges of the year: How to prepare for the world’s biggest, seasonal wave of consumerism?
Dominion or Subjugation: Black Friday
Whoa!! Wait, a minute (you may be thinking)… those words, dominion or subjugation, those seem like strong words to attach to a financial empowerment article about Black Friday!
But are they, really?
You see, I really love Yahuah’s /God’s Word (The Holy Bible) and dictionaries… well, Webster’s 1828 Dictionary, to be exact.
Why?
Because Yah’s Word defines what things really are, not what we think they are. In fact, "word" means thing!
Written as an equation, it is this: WORD = THING.
For further study, see the following: “word”: KJV Search Results for "word"
First Holy Scripture with ‘word’: Genesis 15 (KJV) - After these things the word
“Word” is dâbâr: H1697 - dāḇār - Strong's Hebrew Lexicon (kjv)
So, I choose thoughtfully and circumspectly.
Let’s define those strong words for understanding before we proceed:
Dominion: רָדָה râdâh, raw-daw'; a primitive root; to tread down, i.e., subjugate; specifically, to crumble off: (come to, make to) have dominion, prevail against, reign, (bear, make to) rule over. Genesis 1 (KJV) - And God said, Let us
Subjugation: To subdue and bring under the yoke of power or dominion; to conquer by force and compel to submit to the government or absolute control of another. Webster's 1828 - Webster's Dictionary 1828 - Subjugate
Therefore, we will either have dominion over and prevail against Black Friday season, or we will be subdued and brought under its yoke of power.
"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." Galatians 5:1
Liberty: Strong's G1657 – eleutheria: from G1658; freedom (legitimate or licentious, chiefly moral or ceremonial):—liberty.
Liberty to do or to omit things having no relationship to salvation.
True liberty is living as we should, not as we please.
Yoke: zygós, dzoo-gos' (to join, especially by a "yoke"); a coupling, i.e., (figuratively) servitude
Yes, it’s that serious.
