Lessons of Autumn: Poems of Change and New Beginnings by Rolanda Pyle
Reflections on life’s seasons, the beauty of letting go, and the quiet courage to begin again.
There’s something profoundly comforting about autumn. The air grows crisp, the light softens, and creation itself seems to exhale after the long labor of summer. It’s a season that beckons us to slow down, reflect, and realign our hearts with the steady rhythm of God’s creation.
Our dear friend and poet, Rolanda T. Pyle, shares two beautiful reflections on this very theme. Through her words, we are reminded that every season, both in nature and in life, carries a purpose, a lesson, and a promise that change is not to be feared, but embraced.
So pour yourself a cup of something warm, settle in, and let her poetry minister to your spirit…

The Lesson that Autumn Brings
The heat, the beach and the sunny days
The fun, vacation, and the lazy ways
All come to a halt with the summer end
It’s time for the next season, let Autumn begin.
Whether Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, the seasons will change
Bringing a time to refocus and to rearrange
It’s a life lesson that like seasons nothing stays the same
Even when bad times come, Thank God they will not remain.
So while we view the leaves of beautiful colors –orange, rust or brown
Let’s be reminded not to let the difficult seasons of life keep us down
Autumn is a time of seasonal shift
When our focus changes and our goal sifts
Like Autumn, we can grow in this time of transition
Remembering that in this life we all have a mission.
Let’s concentrate on new beginnings and move towards the call
As we keep Autumn in our view and we watch the leaves fall.

FALL
Summer is Done
No more hot sun
Time to gather crops
The temperature drops
The weather is cool
Kids back in school
It’s a time of transition
Time to focus on your mission
It’s a time of change
And Time to rearrange
Beautiful trees
Lose their leaves
Green, orange, rust or brown
They all fall to the ground
Fall is here
Autumn is in the air!!!!

Just as the leaves let go when their time has come, we too can release our grasp on the things that no longer serve our journey. Autumn is a gentle teacher, reminding us that transition is not an ending, but a sacred part of growth.
Thank you, Rolanda, for sharing your heart and words with us. May these poems inspire each of us to find peace in the changing seasons of our own lives, trusting that, in every shift, God’s hand is steady and sure.
