It amazes me people actually PAY lots of $$ for jeans that LOOK like my most comfy favorites. Parents, really? Tip: Just make her wear the same jeans for several years and they WILL eventually be the most comfortable pair she owns AND look

My only ever owned pair of Cruel Girl jeans are over 5 years old now. They are beginning to look like that favorite pair in high school... the ones they finally wouldn't let me wear to school anymore. It amazes me people actually PAY lots of $$ for jeans that LOOK like my most comfy favorites. Parents, really? Tip: Just make her wear the same jeans for several years and they WILL eventually be the most comfortable pair she owns AND look "in style". Well, maybe not in style anymore. By that time, pleated baggies might be back in. Maybe? I can hope can't I?!! These jeans have probably lasted that long only because I wear skirts more than I wear jeans. I was thinking about cutting these into capris for summer until I realized I have a worn spot in the crotch that is almost a real hole. I may just cut the legs off and make a skirt out of them now. I'll have to make sure I don't have holes in any other important places first. Maybe I'll patch them with some cute mini calico prints. I can make a Bible cover out of one of the legs and maybe a new billfold out of the other. They WON'T go to waste, I promise. I'm NOT "green", I have green eyes and green is my favorite color, but I'm not eco-friendly in the sense most people think. I love reusing and repurposing, but NEVER recycle. I've researched recycle places... nasty! I believe in being a good steward of God's creation but I don't believe earthlings are killing their "mother" planet. The Bible says sin is causing creation to groan. I believe the Bible. Sin; not overpopulation, Western Civilization, or industry is causing all of creation, not only the earth to fall apart.

"For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now." Romans 8:22 Soon, we won't have to worry about saving the Earth. (Not that I'm worried.)

"For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind." Isaiah 65:17 That is an AMAZING promise! I'm looking forward to it. And look here; it's confirmed in the New Testament as well.

"Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness." 2 Peter 3:13 I doubt the 'style' in Heaven will be ripped and worn out jeans... What do you think?

My son has a pair of jeans that he loves! I have patched the backend several times over the years. Just this week he asked me to patch the knee. I think it is just about time to retire those jeans, but he is not too thrilled about it because they are his most comfortable pair.

Before we moved from Georgia, we had to recycle. While it helped save on garbage bags, I could not stand having to rinse out all the cans to keep from being overrun with bugs. We were shocked there is NO recycling in our area when we moved here. The man who monitors the city trash compactor told my husband not to say anything to anyone about it when we asked, because he did not want to have to deal with open containers of unclean recyclables.

Nothing like a comfortable pair of old jeans. My grandmother used to patch my uncle's with red hearts... LOL I don't blame the trash guy at all. Recycling centers are a whole problem of their own. We reuse cans in a lot of different ways here on the farm. We try not to buy a lot in plastic, but a lot of that can be reused too. Creativity and Stewardship can be a fun combination!

Ha, this reminds me, I work in a box office at a theater and we had an event for local high school students. They were all wearing fashion that would fit in my high school 20 years ago. It is such a great thing that our Father is the same today, yesterday and tomorrow. Thanks for another great devotion.

Love your comment about recycling (or not), the climate, etc... isn't what is actually killing our planet, but sin is! Although one could argue that some of the those things are sin (i.e. not managing our trash better, having so much stuff that we have all that trash, etc...).

BTW, I love my denim skirts the most. They are my "jeans" and I don't really care if they are in style:-)

Yes! You are so right April. Sin is what makes people irresponsible with the Lord's provisions. I love my denim skirts most too. I've been slowly turning my old jeans into skirts, but these are too far gone. I have occasions that call for jeans instead of skirts, so I keep a few pair for those moments. Otherwise, I'm a skirt girl! :-D
