I'm always excited to review Heirloom Audio Productions' GA Henty audio dramas. Beric The Briton is another exceptional story! With a house full of slow & delayed readers, audio books are an invaluable tool. Unfortunately history and science audios can be extremely dry. Not so with these audio theaters! GA Henty is known in homeschool circles as THE historical fiction source, especially for boys. His historic adventures are one of a kind and guaranteed to capture the imagination. Dramatized and read by actors such as John Ryse-Davies, Brian Blessed & Brian Cox make this story come alive in a way you just can't understand unless you've listened to one of the other Heirloom Audio Productions' dramas.

The story of Beric The Briton is an awesome hero story. Children will learn the difficulties that people went through during the time of the Roman tyrant Nero. The atrocities of history were softened through a story of friendship, heroic honor, and love. It brings you even through the catacombs under Rome. The history and geography learned is wonderful. I was worried the end of the story would be sad but without giving any spoilers, I'll just say we were happy with the ending. Our family listened to this audio in one afternoon setting & we were on the edge of our seats the whole time!
We listened to a physical CD, but it is also available in download.
Once again Heirloom Audio Productions provides an engaging downloadable study guide with excellent discussion questions. It includes short biographies of the author, GA Henty and the main historical characters; Nero & Queen Boadicea. There is also a nice list of references for further study. With this study guide, you could easily make this your main history study for a month or more. There are additional digital goodies including a lovely inspirational verse poster, MP3 soundtrack download, Live The Adventure Letter E-Newsletter, G.A.
