What an odd topic for reading... I typically don't care for candy. I love chocolate and I'll have an occasional peppermint or some m&m's in my trail mix, otherwise we seldom have candy around. Hubby & the children all think cotton candy and rock candy are nifty, but I only think they're pretty to look at. Now, tempt me with cookies, brownies, cake, or pie and I'm lost in the world of Sweet Tooth! Thankfully I have a mouthful of good teeth so I've seldom been to the dentist. (I hate having my teeth cleaned.) Most of our children have good teeth too. I know some people think the dentist is an absolute must, but genetics must have something to do with it.

All this to say, while this week's theme is "Candy", the books I'm sharing with you are about the dentist. We are blessed with a nice Christian dentist who is very good with the children, but if yours are still timid about going, here are a few fun books to help you prepare for the trip!
Dawnita Fogleman is an Independent Consultant for Usborne Books & More in the USA. We can ship to all 50 states plus Military APO addresses. If you are outside the USA & not an American Military family, please check out these wonderful books at London's Usborne site. For more information see my disclosure policy for details.
An ordinary visit to the dentist turns into something extraordinary when Marissa and her mom walk through the tall gray buildings downtown and encounter someone special.
Marissa's love of candy caught up with her. That morning, she woke up with a toothache and, instead of bringing her to school, her mother took her to the dentist. So starts Marissa's day. A day where she will discover the joys of giving and sharing. |
A trip to the dentist is much easier if you know what to expect! With sensitive and humorous illustrations, this book shows small children what happens at the dentist - from the chair that goes up and down to all the dentist's equipment. There is also information on how to look after your teeth, and a little yellow duck to find on each double page. ("... clearly explained, in an informative way, with lots of jolly illustrations."
