What do the Dusty Dudes of the prairie do for fun? We throw cow chips as a competition sport. (Yes, anything can be a competition sport...) First, in case you don't know; cow chips are dried out disks from the south end of a bovine. When they are fresh, they're good for breaking in a new pair of boots and giving that nice warm homey feeling with a sweet smell of country. When they are dried out, they are a weapon against... Oh, I don't know, whatever you want to throw them at. They'd hurt but usually crumble on impact so this is a relatively safe sport. You know, I've lived out here most of my life and I've never even watched this event. People come from all over the world to participate and I'd rather be at the craft show. My great-grandmother used to sell rag dolls each year. I usually try to take some with me when I have a booth. I'm disappointed I won't make it this year, but I wanted to join the celebration from my blog. So, I'll sit here sipping coffee today and watch the comments (well, I'll pop in and out while I clean my poor neglected house!). I look forward to seeing what you all think of our crazy Wild West ways!
