I love the way God brings things together in life. I'm one of those people who doesn't believe in coincidences. I know without a doubt HIS hand is in all aspects of our lives. Our "What To Read Wednesdays" hostesses decided a few months ago that today's topic would be "Detectives". I had no idea at the time that Faith Blum's newest release would center around the Pinkerton National Detective Agency. My review will post tomorrow, don't miss it. She kept me on the edge of my seat and I can hardly wait to share it with you! Now I'm intrigued. If you ever get to visit Boot Hill Museum in Dodge City KS you'll see photos and information about those detectives.

Today I'm sharing a nice variety for the family. Yes, some are murder mysteries, but not all of them. Children are bound to enjoy the 'Mugged Pug' or 'Strawberry Thief'. The older children may enjoy some forensic science or good ol' Cowboys chasing Outlaws though. Studying mysteries really helps develop critical thinking skills. Who knows, maybe they'll start exploring some of the mysteries in your home, like The Case of the Missing... (you can insert almost anything here, including Mom's glasses or coffee cup on any particular day!)

Sure to charm dog lovers and detective fans alike, the Jack Russell: Dog Detective books’ short snappy mysteries are perfect for newly confident readers. Embellished with codes, clues, maps and “jack facts” to hold interest, they encourage deductive reasoning and promote logical thinking, while the puns, witticisms and doggone silly humor will have them laughing (barking?) out loud. This collection includes the paperback editions of the following titles: Awful Pawful, Dog Den Mystery, Lying Postman, Phantom Mudder, Mugged Pug, Sausage Situation, Buried Biscuits, Kitnapped Creature, Blue Stealer, Inspector Jacques, and Ham Heist. (These books can be purchased separately.)
