FaithLeaps:
The Christian Mom’s Guide to Passion, Purpose, and Profits by Alyssa Avant
I've been blogging since before I knew what it was. Let’s face it, I’m a writer. Writers write. In school, when the teachers were giving the rest of the class a minimum number of pages for reports and essays, they always gave me a maximum number. I’ve also always known how to write for the audience in a way that relates to them personally. I've had some kind of website every since internet has been available out here in the boonies. Mr. Amazing is a hardware man and I’m a software girl. When we married, we both had a bit of programming knowledge. Granted that was DOS & Basic. Am I dating myself? I was young for the knowledge… {grin} The first blogging platform was with Homestead Blogger. I had it for several years before I pulled out and tried a few other things, including making my own on my computer and uploading it onto the internet. After realizing the opportunities in blogging and reading a ton of articles on making money with a blog, I decided to try WordPress. Wow! The ease and versatility… {happy sigh} (Updated 2/12/15 - Now I'm moving everything over to Weebly. Some of my bloggy-mom friends probably think I'm nutty but I am really enjoying it. I am amazed at how the Lord has lead our family in the blog/internet world over the past several years. This book has definitely made a good impression on me. I still recommend it.)

I recently had the opportunity to become part of a book promotion for another Christian blog-for-profit mom, Alyssa Avant. The book is called FaithLeaps: The Christian Mom’s Guide to Passion, Purpose and Profits. The title really intrigued me and when I saw her invitation, I had to see what it was about. Alyssa has done a really great job with this book. I’ve drug my feet about buying a book on online business. I do a lot of reading, but I’m a homeschooling mom of several busy children. The reading I do usually runs in the arena of Peter Rabbit, Charles Dickens, and the “How To” keep from pulling your hair out when the kiddos are driving you nuts! Occasionally I slip in a audio when I get to go shopping by myself, but usually even that time is spent listening to Dianna Warring or Adventures in Odyssey. FaithLeaps is short, simple, and to the point. Her personal style and practical ideas fit my ability to read a few pages at a time and take a few notes in between the business of our household. There have been a few things about blogging I haven’t been able to wrap my head around, like niches and platforms. So many things just don’t seem real on the internet. Alyssa has made it more real for me and explained some things in a way that I’m excited to be able to put into effect now. She is also very encouraging. Between well placed Scripture and tidbits of wisdom from some of her mentors and peers, I feel like I’m ready to take that Faith Leap with confidence. I encourage every woman with a blog to read this book. There are things about blogging and God’s purpose for you in the blogging world you just might find challenging and surprising. Take a Leap of Faith yourself!
