I've always been on or around a farm. I can't imagine growing up not knowing that milk comes from a cow AND that the cow doesn't have to die to harvest the milk. I literally did see a picture recently of some women holding signs in the grocery store, "Save the cows, don't drink milk!" Wow.
A few years ago I ordered a meat and cheese plate without pork. The girl taking the order said, "Oh, we don't put pork in these, just ham." I giggled and told her that ham is pork from a pig. Our world is suffering economically. Knowing about farming could be good. |
Here are some wonderful books to help teach children about farms and farming.
