In our homeschool, I usually prefer to use the Charlotte Mason Method of education with our children. A major part of this method is "Copywork". I did a lot of copywork growing up. I kept a journal of poems and quotes I had copied in my prettiest handwriting. I got lots of complements on it from friends young and old. Of course, I had no idea it was a "thing" of it's own at the time and that it was helping me with my language arts skills. I just knew I enjoyed collecting such things in a pretty way. When we began homeschooling our children, I naturally gravitated toward using the same technique with them. Poems are a favorite. The girls love to draw pictures for them as well.

"Come, little leaves," said the wind one day,
"Come over the meadows with me and play. Put on your dresses of red and gold, -- For summer is gone, and the days grow cold."
