Thanksgiving is sneaking up on us again. I say "sneaking up" because the whole year seems to have snuck through. How can a year roll by so fast? It's time to decorate, find out who's coming, decide on a menu, write up the grocery list and... Wow, I'm getting tired and overwhelmed just thinking of all the things that need to be done.
On top of all that, there will be some parties and get-togethers outside of the home as well. I also want to get to some of those books and videos with the children about Pilgrims and Native Americans. And it's time to start considering charities. |

With so many things to consider and do, it's too easy to get all wrapped up in things and forget to take time to rest and be grateful.
This time of year is particularly hard for our family. We're a bit wary in November. November was the month Paul's mom went to the cancer treatment center. November was the month his dad had to go to the nursing home. It was early on Thanksgiving morning when our youngest, at 6 years old, had a heart attack and had to be flown to the city. It was November when my mother was diagnosed with cancer and died two weeks later...
Yes, November has been difficult. It's also been a beautiful time with wonderful memories. We do have so much to be grateful for. We have precious memories of loved ones we've lost. Our youngest is still with us, by the grace of YHVH. This year we have new members of our family. Our two sons-in-law joined us for Thanksgiving last year as fiances, and now they are part of our family. We also have three bonus grandchildren and our first biological grand-baby on the way.
There is much to be thankful for.
