My New-Year’s resolutions are slipping, but I’m not giving up! One of my resolutions was to post more often. I think my goal was twice a week. I only posted 5 times last month on this blog, but I was a lot more active on the others, so I think it levels out. Another goal was to make new friends in the internet “Social Community” world. I could go off on a whole rabbit trail here with the word “Community”, but I’ll try not to. An idea was introduced to me last month to make friends in these social networks. I have made several wonderful friends online through the years. It just seems like an “accident” when it happens, which I know better. There are no accidents with God. It just had never really occurred to me to seek out and pursue friendships online. Since I’ve changed my focus, the Lord has put several amazing women in my path. I’m learning a lot. I suppose that in itself is a success!
Well, my post today is about Security. I suppose if we felt secure, we wouldn’t feel a need for resolutions every year. On the other hand, goals are good, we don’t want to become so content that we become stagnant. What makes you feel secure? Money in the bank? Food in the pantry? A great insurance policy? A new vehicle? In the Bible Job is probably the best example of security. He had it all. He was rich, successful, and had 7 sons and 3 daughters to take care of him in his old age. So he thought. God KNEW job was HIS and had no doubt about it. HE was so sure of it, that He allowed satan to strip it all away in a matter of moments. To us, this could maybe be compared to a cancer diagnosis. In chapter 11, Job’s friends are with him. They are the typical visitors after a disaster, saying all the wrong things, being very discouraging rather than lifting their friend up and giving him any kind of support. One of them is saying if Job didn’t have some hidden sin, this wouldn’t have happened and if Job would “just have faith” all his troubles would go away and he’d be secure. No. God says Job was tested to prove his righteousness, not to Job, but to satan and perhaps to us. Job stayed faithful, truly faithful, and was rewarded with 10 more children and his fortune restored. Okay, so most people today don’t see the value of a few children much less 10 or even 20 children. That’s too bad. In Jeremiah 33, God gives a promise to restore the fortune of Judah and Israel. We’d like to stand on that promise today, but I Thessalonians 5:3 says, “While people are saying, ‘There is peace and security,’ then sudden destruction will come upon them…” We need to be careful where we find our security. The only true security to be had is Eternal Life through the Messiah Y’shua, (Jesus Christ). God owns it all, everything, even the air we breath. We can do nothing, have nothing, be nothing without HIM. Don’t let yourself be “secure” in the things of this world. They WILL pass away. 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” and Revelation 21:5 “And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.” I “securely” look forward to that day! Do you have that security too?
