Even though our family doesn't participate in Christmas, we have an appreciation for some of the fundraising efforts at this time of year. One we enjoy is Samaritan's Purse: Operation Christmas Child shoe box project. Another is Shanna Hatfield's fundraiser for the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund. Shanna is a Christian Western Romance author. She has some of the BEST facebook parties. She's fun and writes good clean books.
The first of her books I read was "Heart of Clay". It's a sweet contemporary romance that kept me guessing what was going to happen next. I kept expecting either something bad to happen or a sappy ending. |

I don't usually read romance unless it's historical, educational, or written by a friend. "Heart of Clay" was a treat though. Shanna Hatfield's descriptions were so realistic. I felt like I really got to know the characters. While it's clean, it is written for mature readers. I wouldn't suggest it for my teen girls. I don't like them fantasizing about romance. The story was an amazing combination of frustrating, sweet, inspiring, tragic, mysterious, & surprising... I love that she portrayed the difficulties of marriage and not some unrealistic view. I'll definitely be reading more of her books. If you're looking for light, fun reading, check it out!
