This is story about a little boy — a happy little boy who loved to do all the normal things a happy little boy would do. But then he started school and his struggles began. Finding it next to impossible to learn to read, this happy little boy soon became sad as he learned he had dyslexia. How will this little boy deal with the challenges he will now face? Written specifically for children with dyslexia, “The Boy Who Couldn’t Read” will help your child learn to survive and THRIVE with dyslexia.
Reading this with our children was a lot of fun. Our girls love to draw pictures and all the children love telling stories. They all found ways in which they could relate to Corban. We don’t have dyslexia, but some of us have lazy eye and tracking issues which make us late and slow readers. It was interesting to see how Corban was encouraged by knowing that God had created him with a special plan for his life. We all have things we have to work hard on. Challenges create the best achievements.

The Boy Who Couldn’t Read: A Child’s Story of Dyslexia
Author Bio (Cheri Gamble‘s son): Corban Gamble is a nine year old boy who has dyslexia and this book is his story. Together with his mom, Cheri, he put his story into words and then drew all the illustrations. It is his hope that through this book, other boys and girls like him will learn that they are special and that they can do great things because of their dyslexia.
He mentions in his book “reading” with audio books. We use a lot of audio books in our home. I love reading out loud with my children, but I can only do so much. It’s always especially nice if there are different voices in the audiobook. Here are some of our favorites:
The Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan
The Complete Lord of the Rings Trilogy & The Hobbit Set
Dragons in Our Midst audio books by Bryan Davis
The Chronicles of Narnia Complete 7 Volume CD Box Set (Unabridged)
