Joshua Brookings has become a Pinkerton Detective. He's a long way from the hot-headed kid who was chased across the west by an outlaw with his sister in the A Mighty Fortress (1st in the Hymns of the West series). His faith is really being put to the test as he finds himself undercover with a ruthless outlaw gang. He's torn between his faith, his duty, and his desire to follow God's perfect will. Faith Blum has followed up her series with a wonderful Western novel that kept me on the edge of my seat. She kept this story clean while hitting on some difficult topics. The cowboys and ladies all have very real struggles but Faith shows God working each circumstance.

Faith's books are good ol' Wild West stories. The Solid Rock twists and turns with mystery, suspense and a touch of romance. I LOVE this series. Faith's characters seem very real. I love how the cowboys are generally quiet, but really have a lot going on in their heads and how the ladies are strong, yet very feminine. The elements of forgiveness and God's perfect timing are awesome faith builders. I've seen God work in our lives very similar to some of the things that were happening in this book. It's great to read a story that I can truly relate to and totally enjoy.

Pinkerton detective, Joshua Brookings, is sent on a job that seems simple on the surface. His fellow detective has been kidnapped and his boss, William Pinkerton senses foul play. Joshua is sent to investigate Edward's case in hopes of finding the kidnapped detective and helping solve the case that has taken over ten years to investigate. |

Faith Blum started writing at an early age. She started even before she could read! She even thought she could write better than Dr. Seuss. Now that she's grown up a little more, she knows she will probably never reach the success of Dr. Seuss, but that doesn't stop her from trying.
When she isn't writing, Faith enjoys doing many right-brained activities such as reading, crafting, writing, playing piano, and playing games with her family. One of her dreams is to visit Castle City, Montana someday to see the ghost town she chose for her characters to live in. She currently lives on a hobby farm with her family in Wisconsin. Follow Faith Blum on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Amazon, her website & her blog. |
